2016 Topps Heritage MORE VALUE Pack

Today's Stars in the 1967 design. A week or so ago I opened a solitary pack of 2016 Heritage. Since then I have come into possession of two rack (value) packs, which each contains 20 cards. The Red Sox checklist for this set is very extensive, so with any luck I should be able to improve my chances of extracting a Red Sox player from either pack.

There is also the added bonus of  being able to procure a 1967 Disc card, which were only attainable in these Walmart packs.

2016 Topps Series 1 MORE value packs

Some 2016 Topps Series 1 Hanger packs courtesy of my old Headteacher, who took another trip (lucky bugger!), to the USofA in the recent school holidays. These packs were purchased from a Walmart in Florida. 

I partook in a group break with my fellow UK card collectors earlier in the year and was able to get 4 complete sets of Red Sox base cards plus a number of the inserts, including a lovely 1978 Luis Taint 65th anniversary Gold 1/1 card. So I don't need any of the base cards, although a few of  the inserts caught my attention;

 Berger's Best, a 65 card reprint set from each season since 1952 to honor hobby legend Sy Berger , the Wacky Packages promo stickers and I really like the stamp/coin combo cards but these are limited to Hobby and Jumbo. 

I was able to trade for some of the Berger's Best and couldn't resist purchasing some 'not too expensive' blasters of Wacky Packages, which I will share later and I will not hold my breathe for a stamp/coin card.

2015 Panini Donruss Value pack

One of the many joys of being a baseball card collector in the UK is that you are fairly unique. So when colleagues from school travel across the pond they now actively search for cards. 

My school had two lovely weeks off, while many others had a single week. I won't go into the details but will say we do extra 'nights' (yes nights) during the term and join all our training days together. 

This colleague, who also a parent, purchased the only cards she could find in Florida. She said this as a way of describing the desperate search she made looking for cards in various shops, including a recommended 'garden' shop. Eventually she bought the last two packs she could find in Walmart. 

I am glad really for any packs and the fact that she actively searched makes me even more appreciative. What my colleague found was a value pack of 2015 Panini Donruss and a 2015 Topps Heritage value pack Sandy Koufax exclusive.

2013 Topps Series 2 baseball Jumbo pack

With the imminent arrival of 2014 Topps Series 2, these packs(there are a few) may seem a tad delayed. However I am still after the majority of the Red Sox from the flagship Topps, series1 and update included. The inclusion of 3 blue bordered parallels signify that these jumbo packs, containing 36 cards, were purchased in Wal-Mart. A Walmart somewhere in New York state.
My boss, soon to be ex-boss, was on a break in New York last year and returned with 9 jumbo packs, with an apology saying 'this is all she could find!'
I wasn't disappointed. Her departure from my school may mean these generous gifting are a thing of the past.
Four of the jumbos remain unopened, but not for long. I thought about selling them on eBay but I just enjoy opening packs far too much.

The Topps Series 2 was a 330 card continuation of the series 1 set.
The base cards are available in a number of parallel versions; Emerald Foil, Blue (Wal-Mart), Purple (Toys R' Us), Red (Target), Emerald Blue, Gold, Desert Camo Foil, Black, Pink, Silver Slate, and Platinum.
There are also the short printed base variations.
The inserts include; 1972 minis, Silk collection, Chasing History, Cut to the Chase, Making their Mark, Chase it down, World Baseball Classic stars, the Elite and Elite Gold. Most of the inserts come in an autograph/relic version.

Two jumbos -no Red Sox! 72 cards and not a sniff...

2008 Upper Deck Series 2 rack pack

A great deal was said at the time of its unveiling in 2008 but the photography was a big plus on this set. It outweighed Topps big time for effort however it still didn't stop the demise of Upper Deck a short while later. The photography is certainly crisp and clear, all cards appear to be action shots and, the entire front of the card is taken up with photo. I think they refer to it as full bleed. Great work from Upper Deck. This set was definitely better than some of the others Upper Deck offered in the same year, X, Heroes, Documentary or Timeline and cannot be compared to Goudey or Masterpieces as they were aimed at different sort of collector.
